Program details
Management of the program has been entrusted to Spira which, for the evaluation of assistance requests, calls upon a jury composed of representatives from the film community. The program aims to support the development of emerging artists, creators, and producers, helping them integrate into the professional environment while maintaining the existing balance. Through the awarding of various grants, this component contributes to:
- Facilitating the start of a career by supporting first professional experiences;
- Promoting the integration of emerging artists, creators, and producers into the professional film industry;
- Supporting artistic projects that contribute to the professionalization of emerging filmmakers in Québec City and Wendake;
- Enriching the practice of emerging artists, creators, and producers.
Première Ovation – Cinema makes it possible, among other things, to support first professional experiences and artistic projects that contribute to the professionalization of the local emerging film community. It is divided into four components:
- Training and professional development fund that offers emerging artists, artisans, and producers in the film industry the opportunity to obtain financial assistance to access training or resources relevant to their professional development: master classes, internships, professional meetings, symposiums and conferences, professional development, training offered by the Conseil de la culture or a specialized organization, etc.
- Mentoring that allows emerging artists, artisans, and producers to gain experience that is relevant to the development of their knowledge and skills.
- The Screenwriting Fund supports the completion of personal projects involving the writing of fiction or documentary screenplays of any genre that contribute to the professionalization of emerging screenwriters in Quebec City. It offers financial support that allows writers to devote themselves to developing screenplays in a professional manner that meets industry standards.
- Fund to support emerging filmmakers, which aims to support emerging artists and producers who wish to undertake the production of a film. It offers financial support of up to $25,000 to enable them to carry out their projects in a professional context and produce works that meet industry standards. This fund is divided into three components:
- Production
- Post-production
- Marketing and discoverability
